Bangkok | The Land of Smiles

Thailand's vibrant capital is one of the world's most colorful cities. In Bangkok you will find an exhilarating mix of food and culture. And true to it's name, no matter where you go and who you talk to, you get smiles a plenty from the local people.

Shop

Apart from the major department stores, you should try to visit some of these nice shops.

Lobby level, Gaysorn
999 Ploenchit Rd
Patumwan Bangkok 10330

Disaya has really unique accessories and jewelry's collection.

Goose
somewhere in Siam Square

Nice stationery shop.

3rd Floor, Siam Center
444 Phaya Thai Road

Pretty printed dresses and cute accessories.

Kunitar
205/27 Soi Sukhumvit 55, Klongton Nor,
Wattana, Bangkok 10110

Dresses made for fairies.

Sauce Bookstore
Ekamai 12, Sukhumvit 63,
Vaddhana, Bangkok 10110

Wonderful collection of cookbooks, Japanese zakka books, and magazines.

2nd Floor, Gaysorn
999 Ploenchit Rd
Patumwan Bangkok 10330

One of my favorite designers. I love how the Sretsis girls come up with little story with each collection. Their work is both elegant and mischievous, mixing custom printed fabrics with revisited old-fashioned looks.

The Old Story
Suan Lum Night Bazaar, Lopburi Zone 5, Rama 4

Khun Ying herself handmade each and every item with vintage fabric and buttons. She sells a selection of vintage garments in her shop too.

Ratchada-Ladphrao Night Market
At the Ratchada-Ladprao junction on the grounds of the former Ratchada Night Plaza. Located in the parking lot of the MRT Ratchadapisek parking lot.

The best night market in Bangkok in my opinion. Getting there is tricky. The easiest way to get there is to take the MRT to Ratchadapisek station. by car, if you are on Ratchadapisek Road going towards Viphavadi, turn left into the MRT parking lot. It is poorly lighted so keep an eye out as you approach the junction.

Great place for finding vintage clothings and accessories. Even antique decoratives and collectables.

Eat

Spring Dining Room
199 Soi Sukhumvit 49 (Promsri), Sukhumvit Rd,
Klongton Nua, Wattana, Bangkok 10110

I like going to spring dining room. It feels like going back home to have a Thai meal.
If you have time to spare, go experience their Winter lawn. Just imagine lying on the grass, watching stars and having your favorite drinks.

Vanilla Brasserie
Ground Floor, Siam Paragon
Pathumwan, Bangkok 10330

I love the whole Vanilla concept. They have cafes and restaurant all around Bangkok.

Vanilla Garden at Ekamai
Sauce Bookstore is located here as well.

Vanilla Cafe
Ekamai 12, Sukhumvit 63
Vaddhana, Bangkok 10110

They serve nice Thai inspired Japanese food.

Royal Vanilla
Ekamai 12, Sukhumvit 63,
Vaddhana, Bangkok 10110

They serve Thai inspired Chinese food. Skip the dim sum. Go for the main dishes. I remember the peking duck or similar was delicious!

233 South Sathorn Road, Kwaeng Yannawa,
Khet Sathorn, Bangkok 10120

Thai cuisine. It's a little over rated, but try at least once.

Coquette
63 Sukhumvit Soi 53
Wattana, Bangkok 10110

Draped in pink and filled with vintage homewares and delicious food.

Stay

I've stayed in numerous hotels and serviced apartments across Bangkok. These are a few of my personal favorites.

267, Soi Sukhumvit 31, North Klongtan,
Wattana, Bangkok 10110

One of the best hotel i have stayed in.

6/11 Decho road
Bangruk, Bangkok 10500

One small hotel, but quirky and fun. Love the option to have breakfast in bed.

39 Soi Suanplu,
South Sathorn Road, Bangkok 10120

Great location. It's about 15 mins away from Suan Lum night bazaar.
And if you like to whip yourself a meal or two, it's a perfect place to stay because it has a nice kitchen attached to each room.
